Lonaconing Trifecta, Continued

I finally made it through all of my images from my latest trip to the Klotz Silk Mill in Lonaconing, MD. Things have been a bit busy from a work perspective so it took me a little longer than I had hoped. This third visit was probably my favorite (although it was very cold in the mill) because I was able to focus on the images I wanted to make based on the lessons I learned from the previous two visits. This trip was also characterized by some incredibly warm light on the second day, which was something we had not seen on our previous visits. I hope that time will preserve this incredible building a little longer so that I can make another visit. My next stop, however, is the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philadelphia, follow shortly thereafter by a trip to Bogota, Colombia. So I hope to have some great images for you in the near future. In the meantime, enjoy these final images from Lonaconing.

Lonaconing Trifecta

This past weekend I made my third trip to Lonaconing to visit the Klotz silk mill (see my previous posts for historical background). We had a great group including Tony Sweet, John Barclay, Steve Ellis, Arthur Ransome, Rad Drew, Karen Messick, Stan Silverman, Greg Daily, Craig Rudin, Charles Riter, and probably 4 or 5 more I am forgetting. We had a great weekend of making images, goofing around, telling dumb jokes and, oh yeah, continuing to work to save this incredible landmark. Paris Redux

Since my website crashed several weeks ago I have been wanting to re-post my images from the various trips I had taken to Paris between 2010 and 2011. An email exchange with a fellow photographer today has motivated me to finally sit down and make it happen. There are quite a lot of images in this post but it is a combination of what was previously seven different posts, so thanks for your forbearance with me.

Returned to the Lonaconing Silk Mill this past weekend. On my first visit, back in August, I focused on capturing the broader perspective of this amazing place. On this visit, I spent more time focusing on the smaller details. Thanks as always to Tony Sweet for setting this up.

Somehow over the last month my website crashed and I have been unable to recover from the crash, so as you can see I am having to start fresh. There are still issues with the site but at least I am back up and running. I will start by re-posting my images from the Lonaconing Silk Mill, a place I will be visiting again on December 17th.

Recovery: Stop Blinking

Re-posting the senior portraits I took of our friend’s daughter Laura Blaylock. In my original post I shared the story of how I told Laura that it seemed like she was four, then I blinked and she was 17 (in fact, in just three short months she will be 18). Her response to me? Stop blinking. Jenni and I love Laura dearly so this was definitely a labor of love.
